Garuda Dr460nized Gaming
Issues in last year 4, 2 were my fault (stupidity) and 2 were issues with an update breaking the ability to boot. Snapshots allowed me to go back and boot and the longest I had to wait for the developers to fix the issue was 3 days. I really appreciate what the developers do to make this such a great OS.
One website for streaming my TV provider will not work with anything but Windoze or Mac. got a Windoze VM for that.
What I have learned:
You don’t need to update as soon as possible. I now wait till the weekend and update then
You don’t need to installs the gaming version to get the gaming functions
Your home directory is not backed up in snapshots. I’m running a a backup once a month to backup my home folder
The developers are making it easy to have this OS work great, like Rani and the Update script
I have had no real issues since installing this OS. I have been playing with Linux since late 1999 using VM’s and this is the first distro I installed on baremetal. I even installed Garuda Xfce on my 15 year old laptop, with a very slow HD which I’m going to upgrade to a SSD.
I would like to thank the community and the developer for all the support making this a very easy and smooth transition from the evil OS I had before.
I also live in Canada, and have the same problem with local TV stations. I have used nothing but Linux for 15+ years, so Windows is not a viable option in my mind. My alternate solution, was to install Waydroid. Waydroid lets me install and run any Android apps I want, so I have a ton of streaming options available that way.
Windows isn’t welcome on my machines ever, (not even in a VM). That boat sailed long ago, just not going to happen.
@tbg Well at least your not like the really really unscroupolus people who use Stremio. Apparently if you , among others, install an addon like the: The [insert bandits of the high seas, possibly carribean]Bay Plus it will be able to stream every known movie and show on this planet. The audacity! And to add, the damned thing works like a charm! If it weren´t so morally dubious I would most certainly depend on it for all my streaming needs. Although I realize that the local news and such might be hard to come by if not available over IP-tv.
I tried that but had issues getting the play store to be active even though I followed the guide. Got F-Droid working but the app I was getting would not install, not compatible
