ISO livecd won't start due to file corruption yet hash says everything is ok

So yeah, wanted to reinstall so I downloaded the not-so-fresh ISO, checked the sha256 and it said everything was ok. I copied it to ventoy, started the LiveCD, and got the “file corrupted” error.

So went back to the system, and ran the check again on the USB and it’s apparently fine yet the error remains

Where should I look for the possible issues, as I need to reinstall because clonezilla refuses to clone my drive properly (always going to grubrescue afterwards)

Not so recent? It looks like you downloaded a nightly. The most recent images do not work with ventoy so either use etcher to an actual jumpdrive or download the one from the garuda website which is 240428 which does work with ventoy.

You may need to update your Ventoy stick (https://www.ventoy.net/en/doc_start.html).

Or, use another tool to create the bootable media. Using a command line tool like cat or tee is very simple and does not require installing anything.

Just switch to root and run the one command, done.

You are right, Ventoy does not work on the new ISOs. But it looks like they are using a 240428 ISO:

Ventoy can probably be made to work in this case if it is brought up to date.

Thanks. Ultimately, I went to the store and got a new stick just to use as a bootable Garuda. I didn’t even think that the issue might be with Ventoy being old. Thanks again.
