Issues with “signature is marginal trust”, "signature is unknown trust", or “invalid or corrupted package”

If you're getting an error similar to "Can’t update: signature from *** is marginal trust" or "invalid or corrupted package" you probably just need to update your package signing keys: sudo pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring chaotic-keyring sudo pacman -Syu If you have added any other repositories, e.g. BlackArch, then add their keyring to the list. Also make sure your system clock is correct! Of course, it's also possible that the package file actually is corrupt. Remove it from /var/cache/pacman…

This sort of thing happens regularly with the ChaoticAUR builds of -git packages. For example, the package signature on disk and those in the database are out-of-sync (for whatever reason).

If you have already tried re-downloading the package then you can probably --ignore this package for the moment, or switch it to libretro-stella2014 instead.

This update all packages but ignore one package:

sudo pacman -Syu --ignore libretro-stella2014-git

This will update all packages and install a package:

sudo pacman -Syu libretro-stella2014

libretro-stella2014 and libretro-stella2014-git should conflict, and therefore pacman will prompt you to remove libretro-stella2014-git; by doing it this way pacman can take into account that it's a replacement so other packages that might depend on libretro-stella2014 or libretro-stella2014-git won't be removed.
