Install from USB leads to Black Screen directly after Welcome to Grub message

Hi! I wanted to make the switch from windows to Linux after the privacy cluster■■■■ windows 11 has become (yes this has been bad for a while but having a 3 year old and a newborn isn’t exactly a catalyst for doing stuff like that :D).

Having already tried and used Mint, Ubuntu and Debian for some time in the past, I decided to try Garuda Linux this time.

Things I’ve done so far:

  • downloaded Garuda Dragonized gaming
-created the boot USB with Rufus
  • disabled fast and secure boot (deleted the keys as well)
-checked that the SSD (which also contains windows) is in AHCI Mode and has an empty 400gb unformatted partition
  • booted from the USB Stick

After that I only see a quick flash of “Welcome to GRUB” and after that only a black screen. I’ve waited for around 15 minutes for things to progress.

Any ideas?

Hi there, welcome to the forum.
Try with Ventoy instead of Rufus and make sure to select the grub2 option when you will be asked, booting the USB.
