Including CJK fonts ie chinese japanese korean by default in iso

so we want your opinions regarding this
including cjk fonts increases iso size by 300mb

and many people dont need cjk fonts unless they are from east asia

so what to do?

CJK fonts in iso preinstalled
  • include them
  • do not include them

I seriously wonder why Garuda should be made unattractive to the Chinese, Japanese and Koreans?
Is the reason just to save 300 MB?

Agreed - free and open from FOSS is inclusive, no?

I agree this distro forum is (Mostly {off topic chit chat flashbacks}) inclusive why can't the distro itself be.

The images aren't aligned to any medium size (e.g. 650MB CD, 4.7GB DVD, ...), so I don't think there's a problem with an extra 300MB as long as the images can still be downloaded.

My questions were directed towards the opposing voices

Well idk how much of our users require cjk fonts, there are possibly also users with limited bandwidth who appreciate a lighter iso :eyes:

What about 2 diffrent isos?

Even people who don't "need" the fonts will notice that they are missing if they open a website with Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters and all they get is empty boxes instead of text. They might even suspect a bug.

I'm not into including anything and everything in an ISO, but including these these fonts makes sense to me.

This is where the new downloader comes in.

What's that?

How many cjk users here on the forum have complained?
Do we even have any on the forum?
Is there a cjk Garuda forum that we do not know?

That doesnt help.

As a Garuda flea riding a Garuda Eagle, I go where it goes  I just thought of the future success of the Eagle

Not yet, but it will. Shortly.™
