I'm leaving Windows and joining the Linux gaming scene

Hi, I’m new to Garuda, and although I’ve used Linux before, my level is rather low. The reason for switching from Windows is that I can’t afford to buy a new computer with TPM2.0, nor do I want to give up my old PC. So I searched for the best Linux-based gaming operating system, and I found Garuda.

I use Garuda Xfce because I understand it’s the lightest, and I’m already familiar with Lubuntu, so I don’t dislike Xfce or find it unfamiliar. Here’s a summary of the computer I use: although buying a more up-to-date one is out of my reach, there are also sentimental reasons to keep it.

• CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q9650
• Motherboard: Gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR
• RAM: 16 GB DDR3
• Graphics: Gigabyte GTX 1650OC 4 GB DDR5
• Storage: Sandisk SSD PLUS 240 GB / Samsung HD103UJ 1 TB

English isn’t my native language either, but I think Google translations are good enough for us to communicate efficiently.

I don’t think I’m up to the task of contributing anything relevant, so I’ll settle for not being a constant nuisance on the forum. However, after several reinstallations of Garuda, I’ve discovered that ChatGPT tends to complicate things, and if I blindly follow it, I end up having to reinstall and start over again.

Greetings to everyone, and thanks in advance for your patience and help.

The AI isn’t yet capable of understanding Arch Linux or OSes based on it, if it ever will be

Just ask here if searching the internet doesn’t help.

Welcome! I didn’t know hardly anything when joining the forum either. We’re happy to have you either way.

Glad to see someone holding on to old hardware. It doesn’t happen nearly often enough nowadays.

Welcome, lot of help to be found here, my Windows 7 laptop is also running Xfce with less RAM and an onboard GPU and it works great
