I'm using tilix for the console and when I try to run tilix -q to run in quake mode (opening the dropdown console window), it opens maximized instead of only taking up 40% of the top of the screen.

Is there some setting that forces all windows to open maximized or something?

How do I get tilix --quake

Nothing in

?

nope this documentation doesnt help

also, ive never had this issue with any other desktop environment. thats why im posting the question in this forum

Perhaps you have been lucky; it looks like this has been an issue for years:

A couple things you could try:

  • Switch to Wayland
  • Turn off the compositor
  • If turning off the compositor helps but you would rather leave it on, try disabling animations a few at a time to see if you can identity a problematic one.
