Hi and Welcome ![]()
Nice too see someone installed it and like to try and test some stuff and share it ![]()
Enjoy your playing and have fun at all ![]()
For information, you do not need to type sudo for the
garuda-update
command. It will then ask for the password but no need to prefix it with sudo.
Some thoughts I had while watching:
Check out Garuda Rani; its in the Start Menu and is also the Garuda icon on the very left of your dock. It contains a ton of useful utilities and will get you up and going. Its a stand out feature of Garuda for new users IMO.
The firewall config program isn’t running because firewalld is disabled by default. I imagine there’s probably a good reason for that but incidentally there’s a checkbox in the System Settings in Rani that will install/enable it for you.
To update through the terminal you can just type: upd . upd -a will run the updater and update AUR packages as well.
I don’t use Firedragon but I can’t imagine that it doesn’t allow you to change your Start page. Strange that the Home menu is missing. Pretty sure you can go to About:config → browser.startup.homepage and change it there.
I’ve got to be honest; watching someone use the mouse for everything is maddening. Use the Search boxes and some keyboard shortcuts ![]()
Good job on the vid and good luck with the channel!
A firewall was enabled by default with Garuda several times in the past. UFW originally, and then firewalld later on. Unfortunately, this led to many help requests on the forum because many programs would not function correctly if the user did not properly customize their firewall rules. Also, many people were totally unfamiliar with firewalld and this led to much confusion when it was enabled by default. In the end it was decided that Linux was adequately secure even without a firewall enabled by default, and it was left to the user to make the decisions regarding firewall choice and configuration.
