hey, i have seen another post kinda similar to my problem, however the post was about the install process as far as i have understood it, my problem with hyprland is that the live iso just displays a gray display after logging in, no keybind i tried did anything… i first tried it on an vm on my desktop and thought well, the website said there can be problems with vms… then i tried it on my pc without an vm, gray display after logging in. then tried it on my laptop. same problem. both are using amd processors, maybe that’s relevant? if there are any useful logs please tell me where i can find them and also how i can get to them, also i have tried both the garuda hyprland login-option and the normal hyprland one, both have the same problem for me
As always, we need the garuda-inxi, Hyprland doesn’t run on every hardware, for whatever reason. Unfortunately.
You should also check the download (shasum) and whether the USB stick was safely removed.
If you are not an experienced Linux user or use an Nvidia GPU, you should not install Hyprland.
Hyprland is really awesome, but unfortunately it doesn’t run on every hardware.
or if sway works on your system you can transform it to hyprland following the guide we have on forum.
i did verify the sha sum and also safely ejected the usb stick. here’s the inxi of my laptop:

if you need anything else please let me know. by the way, both systems also use an amd graphics processor, my laptop got an amd apu and my desktop pc got an “real” graphics card
i just tried that, however yay and paru (from what i know they’re basically the same) both can’t find the xdg-desktop-hyprland-git (nor an not git version), and since it sounds pretty important i don’t think it’ll work without that, am i missing some mirrors? garuda, core, extra, community, multilib and chaotic-aur got synced without any errors
Perhaps these are what you are looking for.

thank you, and for the polkit-kde-git
i assume polkit-kde-agent-git
? also does it make any difference if i use yay or paru to install the packages?
yes, you can also take a look at the latest comments under the post.
No, yay is an alias to paru so the command execute the same binary.
thank you, another problem now is that it said the line 62 in the hypr config file “no such field” (the one with the blur_new_optimizations = on) and commenting it out makes it say that now line 61 “no such field”… also back to the main reason for this thread, i also tried the same iso on an intel-based mini-pc and i get the exact same error… and i again verified the checksum on the iso
What is the name of the ISO?
garuda-hyprland-linux-zen-231029.iso
And now you are on metal and installation works?
Can you please post the garuda-inxi from this install?
Take a look at hyprland’s gitlab repo for that. Those config files on the tutorial are old and a lot of stuff has changed.
hyprland config: etc/skel/.config/hypr/hyprland.conf · main · Garuda Linux 🦅 / Themes and Settings / Settings / Garuda Hyprland Settings · GitLab
The two files above it in tutorial: usr/local/bin · main · Garuda Linux 🦅 / Themes and Settings / Settings / Garuda Hyprland Settings · GitLab
I believe you can place the files in the /etc/skel and other dirs from gitlab repo in their right places.
i am sorry, the current “working” system is an sway i’m trying to change to hyprland, if you want the inxi of that one here it is:

thank you, while in my opinion ugly (it changed the theme), it does work now as far as i can tell
BTW, I install this
on my Notebook, no problems.
Hyprland is far from perfect.
It is on version 0.31
This is another problem, and do not fit to the headline Hyprland not working after iso-login.
If it doesn’t work on your hardware yet, you should try again later. It’s no coincidence that it’s listed under the “For Experienced Users only” section.
Hmm I have live ISO of sway and hyprland in my ventoy USB and honestly I haven’t spotted a lot of differences between them (then again I haven’t installed and explored them deeply enough) so perhaps this is a config issue? or as you say theme issue in which case you can just change it.
i am not sure what to do now, i mean the modified sway works now, however the iso is (obviously) still broken, is there something i could do to help with anything so the iso either works on the machines i tested (i really don’t care about the mini pc tho) or for the next iso version to work?
I tested this ISO also and did not have any issues like you describe. The live environment booted normally, installation had no problems, and booted to the desktop without any issue. No grey screen, no issues with keybindings. The consensus on the team is this is a good ISO. If it doesn’t work for you, it may indicate an issue with your specific hardware or configuration choices.
so basically there is nothing i can do… i just find it very unlikely for three seperate systems to have the very same problem… well that’s me… is there anything to read through for the config files, the overall desktop view etc. or do i just have to read through all config files i think could be relevant? especially for keybinds this could be very helpful
