Hyprland Keyboard Shortcuts in live usb

Hello Garuda Community,

I recently tried running Garuda with Hyperland, as well as Arch Linux with Hyperland, from a live USB. However, I encountered an issue where the keybindings, particularly the Super key combinations, are not functioning at all.

I’ve consulted the cheat sheet and attempted various combinations, but unfortunately, nothing seems to work. This has left me hesitant about installing it on my PC, which currently has Manjaro KDE. However, I wonder if installing it on real hardware might resolve these issues and allow everything to work as expected.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,

Hello ,
can you please tell the name of ISO that you are using , it is basically the name of the ISO file that you have downloaded , and also from the live session can you give the output from the terminal of this command : garuda-inxi

First of all , if your PC has a key to enable or disable super key , then please press it again and check , as I have also encountered it , many times it is because of I have disabled the super key unknowingly , from my keyboard .

Yess , it can have different experience , I would recommend to install and check if it is possible .

also you can install wev in live session and check if it is really not working by installing wev running into the terminal , when you will run wev and press windows , then it should give key as 133 in terminal , like this :

                      sym: Return (65293), utf8: ''
[14: wl_keyboard] key: serial: 8786; time: 5844042; key: 133; state: 1 (pressed)
                      sym: Super_L (65515), utf8: ''
[14: wl_keyboard] modifiers: serial: 0; group: 16
                      depressed: 00000040: Mod4
                      latched: 00000000
                      locked: 00000010: Mod2

if this is different value for key , maybe that can be the problem :eyes:

I hope this helps :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, Above are the requested details. Still keybindings are not working at all in live usb environment. Anyhow I am going to install it and check whether it is working or not. Even if it is not working, there will be a solution for it and I am intended to look for it. I am really fascinated with the beauty and speed of hyperland and I want to install it at any cost. Let me contact here for further assistance after installing. Thank you very much.

Hi,
I installed hyprland now with the ISO “garuda-hyprland-linux-zen-240428.iso”. I hope this ISO is the correct one. Unfortunately super key is not functional but I can close most of the opened windows with CTRL + W. No other keybindings which are specified in cheatsheet not working. `

After today’s update, hyperutils-git break the log in again.

Changing all -git to non -git fixed the problem.

Check your locale and the other hints you get, please.
Try also onboard virtual keyboard.

When we even added this keybinding :eyes: ??
We have super + Q to quit .( ok I remember it is a shortcut key in firedragon to quit )

Did you installed wev ??

I think this can tell something,

sudo pacman -S wev

and run wev in terminal

Yess it is

Yeah , it can have different results :upside_down_face:

Well, that’s the spirit :sunglasses:

A reboot is pending, just in case.

For a simple test to see if the keys are recognized, you can simply run showkey in the terminal:

sudo showkey

Have you tried a different keyboard on the PC?

Installing it on real hardware might help, as it can provide better support for hardware drivers and configurations.
