Hi, I have a HyperX headset and I tried to use it today in online classes. The headphones work but the mic doesn't. I tried them on another system and both the headphones and mic worked so it's not a technical problem.

This ^^^ would seem related if you’re using a bluetooth headset (which you never stated).

I noticed that too but i wasn't concerned about it cause I don't have a bluetooth headset nor any other bluetooth devices that I want to connect to my pc.

Check if this can help.
At a quick internet search, there were several users complaining of the same issue and none of them seemed to have found a solution except this one:

In pulse audio controls, change codecs to allow input from headset mic.
(Something like headset unit)
