I want to use my dedicated GPU that is AMD Radeon 8600M (I am not sure about the 8600M part). I want to use it in games like Minecraft for better Fps in windows I was able to use it but when I shifted to Garuda Linux I am not seeing the GPU in system monitor and cannot find how to use it on yt
Welcome to the forum
Can you provide your
garuda-inxi
as per the forum template
install nvtop, then you can see how the GPU works or not

Idk why but it only shows my integreted GPU
- Format terminal output (including your
garuda-inxi
) as a code block by clicking the preformatted text button (</>) , or put three tildes (~) above and below the text.
Done
To use your dGPU you have to prepend the command with DRI_PRIME=1
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PRIME#For_open_source_drivers_-_PRIME
Otherwise, the iGPU is used by default.
Can u pls explain what to do step by step cuz I just started using linux day before yesterday only. Also really thanks for helping me
Sorry, I don’t have much time.
Try from terminal
DRI_PRIME=1 minecraft-launcher
I’m not 100% sure about the launcher name, but that’s a typical example.
If it works, search for desktop files to make it prrsistent.
I tried this but idk why but it installed the minecraft launcher and besides i want to use it on another launcher and when i was watching a video on how to use dedicated gpu, it showed that i should do xrandr --listproviders and in the video it showed their list of graphics card but in my case it showed 0 and nothing
Update I tried the Gri prime thing and I got the Radeon GPU to work and I could check it with the Radeontop application. But can anyone tell me if I want to use the dri prime function for a specific app but I don’t know what it’s name is then how do I get the application’s name that can work in Konsole with the dri prime function
