How do i disable vsync?

Hello, I would like to know how i could disable vsync, the option to disable vsync doesn't seem to be in the settings in the compositor, I would like to disable the vsync cause it causes flickering when screen casting and it also causes flameshot to capture the wrong display which is caused by the flickering too i think. I think the reason for the flickering is caused by vsync using opengl as a rendering backend, I think this is the case because this one time i used the other rendering backend option(I forgot the name) and it fixed the flickering and the probems with flameshot, but then a few days later i noticed the flickering problem is happening again when i screen cast so then i checked the settings and i found out that the rendering backend is set to opengl once more and the option that i used for the backend is no longer there, which is why I want to disable my vsync so i no longer have to deal with the flickering and the problems that i have with flameshot

Update: Problem Solved, thank you filo and u/Odzinic for the help, some notes tho on the solution for those who have the same problem:

  • kwin.sh doesnt really exist on the directory specified by u/Odzinic so you have to create it yourself ( I recommend naming the sh file as kwin_env.sh as it is what is instructed in Environment Variables · Wiki · Plasma / KWin · GitLab)
  • when you create the kwin_env.sh file it would probably only have read and write permissions so your probably gonna wanna make that executable as well
  • if the lines of code provided by u/Odzinic doesn't work try adding export before the statements so for example if your doing "KWIN_X11_REFRESH_RATE=60000" your gonna change that to "export KWIN_X11_REFRESH_RATE=60000"

that's all folks, thanks again filo and u/Odzinic for the help

I don't know if this will help. Just the result of a quick search in :duck: :duck: :walking_man:

Especially the fist comment of Odzinic, I'd say...
