How do I disable 3 finger touch pad paste

When I 3 finger click on my touch pad it pastes. Its very annoying because my touch pad thinks I 3 finger click when I use 2 finger for scrolling and right click.

I have seen other people have the same issues in general web searches but no one seems to have a solution. I am assuming the issue KDE related because when I use Cinnamon DE I don’t have any issues.

I am guessing there is a config file that I can disable 3 finger click but don’t know what term to search to find it.

The KDE setting I have in touch pad is 2 finger right click, (3 finger center click). I don’t know if center click is set to paste somewhere but I would like to just disable 3 finger click all together if possible.

partial solution. I had searched for issue for a while but after posting I realized I made wrong assumption searched again found the solution.

KDE settings > General Behavior > Middle-click: (uncheck pastes selected text) >Apply >restart computer

Sadly middle click still pastes in all the browsers and like programs.

I fully understand people love the mouse and love middle click, but in 30+ years of using computers I have never used the middle click. Not starting now.

Hopefully someone will see this and knows how to disable 3 finger touch mouse pad = middle click.

Still haven’t found a way to globally disable 3 finger = middle click or middle click = paste

I have tried to many things to list them all. I just don’t understand wayland well enough. If anyone has any Idea I would be grateful.

I guess the other option is the touch pad must have some noise that confuses 2 finger presses which I do all the time with 3 finger clicks. Maybe there is a way to lower the sensitivity of the touch pad.

I literally waste 10 minutes a day stopping my work to undo pasts and fix thing.

Middle click = paste has been an issue for a lot of people for a lot of time.

Is it not in touchpad? “Don’t have one so i cant see it” as for browsers an such i think it depends on the app.
Mozilla products have it in settings.

Give this one a try:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Clipboard#Disabling_middle-click_paste

Disabling middle-click paste

The following disables the middle-click pasting behavior by automatically clearing PRIMARY, without disabling the middle-click button or altering its other functionalities (like opening in a new tab or scrolling).

Globally

Using sxhkd

Using sxhkd, add the following to the configuration file:

~button2
    ;echo -n | xclip -in

The command makes use of xclip. See sxhkd#Usage for configuring sxhkd to autostart.

Using xsel

Run the script

#!/bin/sh
while true; do
    xsel --follow --input --nodetach </dev/null
done
