High pitched noise on headphone

So... this has been annoying me since I installed Garuda. I have been getting this high pitched tone (which oscillates some times) on my headphone every time I plug it in. There is a lot of weird stuff going on...

  1. The noise is only present when not reproducing any sound.
  2. Rarely, the noise will disappear completely for some seconds and then come back again.
  3. This doesn't seem to be a problem with my laptot speakers.
  4. There is no such noise when I boot on Windows.

I have been looking all over the web for a solution, but everything I got was quite frustrating. I am happy to provide further details about my system but, by now, I don't even know what exactly to show.

What?

Its in “Reporting bugs” wiki.

Solution, don’t plug in or use win

I've had this issue with several different distros.
the fix is simple, at least for me, this worked perfectly on each of the distros I used.

sudo vim /etc/modprobe.d/snd_hda_powersave.conf

added the following:

options snd_hda_intel power_save_controller=N power_save=0

saved and and did a reboot, fixes the issue.
hope works for you too.

Welcome

We use micro on Garuda Linux
