High latency internet spikes while gaming

Hello,
Although having a fairly decent internet connection, with ping averaging 50ms, I'm having high latency spikes every couple of seconds when playing online games such as Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2 on my desktop running Garuda KDE Dr460nized, which render the games almost unplayable. The issue seems to affect my device as a whole.
This issue happens whether I am connected wirelessly or with a cabled connection (through my phone, using an USB cable). This issue doesn't happen with other computers connected to the same network. The games run at a stable framerate averaging 100FPS or more.

I really don't know how to approach this issue, even less so how to fix it, so that's about all the information I knew to gather.

You might just have to disable Ananicy CPP until we figure out what's going on with it; the constant error messages spamming the journal could be chewing on your CPU.

Just un-tick the checkbox in Garuda Assistant and click apply, and see if that helps with your issue.

After doing this, the error did stop appearing in the logs, but I unfortunately still get excessive rubberbanding in my games
I wasn’t able to find anything interesting from the logs

The command speedtest comes from ookla-speedtest-bin from the AUR

I got confused by all of these many speedtests named ookla-speedtest-cli ,speedtest-cli , speedtest, speedtest++.

But in terminal it is just

speedtest

for ookla-speedtest-bin. :rofl: no arguments needed.

The bandwith is fine, It’s really about the latency; I have 50 ping, but The enemies jitter as they move, sometimes teleport where they weren’t. It might be a hardware issue but I have no idea on how to be sure of this, since other computers I have don’t share this issue.

I’ll come back with more details when I can

Also try downgrading the libx11

sudo downgrade libx11

to version 1.8.2 or 1.8.1 . Version 1.8.3 is having trouble with some users recently.
Just a guess though......

Hello, after running several tests and trying out different things, I've found out that an ethernet connection (although impractical for me) works fine. This means that my issue was either hardware-related, or possibly due to the positioning of my room (and wifi/4G being less reliably received in this spot in particular).

I still don't understand why my laptop works perfectly wirelessly, but I guess it's not an issue for here. Anyways, thanks for being reactive as always.
