No matter how i format and partition this Drive or another drive on this machine it refuses to install. I’ve tried different drive’s in this machine, gparted, dd zeroing, etc nothing works or changes the issue. Please help.

Create a new partition (465.76 GiB, btrfs) on ‘/dev/sda’

Job: Create new partition on device ‘/dev/sda’

Command: sfdisk --force --append /dev/sda

Job: Set the label on partition ‘/dev/sda1’ to "root"

Partition table of partition ‘/dev/sda1’ does not support setting names. Job ignored.

Job: Create file system ‘btrfs’ on partition ‘/dev/sda1’

Command: mkfs.btrfs --force /dev/sda1
  • what was previously installed on that drive?

  • did you check the hard-drive with Gsmartcontrol for health status?

  • what is the error message you get @ fail?

  • check if your BIOS supports eFI and/or legacy boot, and
decide then for GPT partition table,
or MBR. You can change the partition type with a partition
    manager.

Garuda KDE and Sway Edition both install perfectly fine on it. I’ve also had a pure Arch installation on this drive as well. I’ve tried multiple healthy drive’s as well.

The error I get is as follows

The installer failed to create partition on disk Hitachi HTS545050B9A300

What ISO are you using?

Did you try this one? https://iso.builds.garudalinux.org/iso/community/hyprland/

please check the bios for SATA mode and BOOT mode?

I’m using the 230906 ISO as the 230910 ISO has issues with the mouse and only allows me to input mouse clicks with the space bar and enter key.

That has been done. I’ve checked everything I possibly could with reference to hard drives and boot modes.

@BluishHumility has a good point , try other media

You may need to get through the installer without a proper mouse cursor. With Nvidia + Hyprland, a patch and a set of environment variables are needed for it to work correctly, see here:

And here:

Some of the Hyprland ISOs have had issues with Calamares (the installer). I would try to use the most recent one you can because they have been actively working on fixing stuff as they go.

I’ve tried both ISO’s starting the live session in open source with no changes to the problem at all.

tried multiple media devices, Ventoy and non ventoy etc. nothing changes.

okay, also tried with free driver option ?

The Hyprland spin is still a beta offering, and unfortunately so far the ISOs do not consistently work for everyone. If you can’t get through the installer I would just check back in a few weeks and try the next ISO.

Like you said, you are able to install some of the other spins so I would just stick with one of those for now. If you are feeling adventurous, there is a guide available for “converting” a Sway installation into a Hyprland one:

Ya that was going to be my last resort. Ill have to build it off of Sway. Thanks for your help.

Both, garuda-hyprland-linux-zen-230910.iso and garuda-hyprland-linux-zen-230906.iso
are fine.

On my Nvidia desktop PC, only the free driver works, but it’s very poor. It’s really no fun.

I have a laptop which 230906 installed without issue but on this machine refuses. Yet all other Garuda flavours install flawless on it. What is the reasoning for this?

In short.
Wayland dos not like Nvidia and opposite.

(@everyone,) coool insights to the topic, I totally ignored Wayland in my thoughts, I always go with AMD && X11 && KDE, not sure when Wayland grows being able to replace X11
