Hello, nice to meet you. My name is Kenyuu, and I’m from Japan. I’m still studying English, so I’m using a translator.

I really love Garuda Linux and use it often. Recently, I deleted Windows and fully switched to Garuda. However, I’m currently facing a few issues.

First, I can’t seem to perform system updates. I tried various solutions I found online, but nothing worked. I’m not sure why.

Also, although this might not be directly related, I used to use Garuda as my main OS a while ago. However, I couldn’t play VR games properly due to some errors, so I had no choice but to use Windows for gaming. While I was using Windows, my account was hacked and unauthorized purchases were made. It caused a significant financial loss.

As a result, I reinstalled Windows, but after that, the boot time became extremely slow—taking tens of minutes, sometimes even over an hour. I suspect it might be due to a virus. I’ve accepted that issue for now.

What I’m really struggling with is that Linux Live USBs won’t boot anymore. I’ve tried several USB drives, but all I get is a black screen. Interestingly, Parrot OS boots just fine. So I’m wondering if it’s only Garuda Linux that won’t boot.

The Garuda system I’m using now is outdated, and I really want to update it, but I can’t. I’m very troubled by this situation.

If you could provide any advice or solutions, I’d be very grateful. Thank you.

Fix this first, please.

One Problem per thread , please.

Check your /etc/fstab with your

lsblk -f

Change the boot order in BIOS to garuda or USB boot.

If this is true, clean your system, just use only Linux.
You know, we do not support dual boot or M$.

One issue per topic, please!

Regarding the package conflict, it seems strange to me that they are both installed if they are in conflict. Perhaps it is due to the fact that you are in a “partial upgrade” state (this should be resolved when you are able to do the garuda-update).
I would try reinstalling one of the two, which should prompt you to remove the other. If that works, then garuda-update should work.
They both have a lot of dependencies I see, so there could be problems.
e.g.

sudo pacman -S nodejs-lts-jod

Or you could forcibly remove one of the two, e.g.

sudo pacman -Rdd nodejs-lts-jod

Or you could try installing nodejs, which should remove both:

sudo pacman -S nodejs

Regarding live USB, recent ISOs require the use of Ventoy and choosing the grub2 boot option when prompted.

Yes, I understand.Sorry for the inconvenience.
I tried to update after using your command and got a new error.
