Gray screen after waking up

Hello. So I’ve noticed strange issue for me. I left my laptop for a few minutes, with music on. When I came back my PC was asleep, and I tried to wake it up by pressing a key on keyboard. It turned gray, I could hear the music from my headphones, but nothing worked. Not even tty’s.

using a nvidia card could be the issue here.

Open a terminal and enter the following commands.

#commands to fix suspending computer
sudo micro /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-preserve-video-memory.conf
#paste the line below
options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1
#press Ctrl s, and then Ctrl q, to save and close the file.
#activate suspend services.
sudo systemctl enable nvidia-suspend.service
sudo systemctl enable nvidia-hibernate.service
sudo systemctl enable nvidia-resume.service
#now reboot.
reboot.

See how that works.

sudo systemctl enable --now nvidia-suspend.service
sudo systemctl enable --now nvidia-hibernate.service
sudo systemctl enable --now nvidia-resume.service

Just a hint.
With

--now

you can save yourself the reboot, at least that was always the case with my commands so far.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Yep worked ig. Thanks a lot <3

What does --now exactly do?

The enable subcommand doesn’t start a service, it only marks it to start automatically at boot.
To enable and start a service at the same time, use the --now option.

As Schabowski said some years ago: ist das sofort, unverzüglich is that immediately, without delay
