Hi everyone! I’ve never replaced a graphics card of a different brand on Linux before. Currently, my PC has an Nvidia card installed with the drivers, of course. I want to replace it with an AMD card. My question is: do I need to do anything beforehand? On Windows, you had to completely eradicate the drivers from every corner of the system. On Linux, is it enough to just remove the Nvidia driver and that’s it, I can install the new card?
Nvidea gpu experience should soon™ improve so if the card is only being replaced due to its vender and not its age or for general performance improvements maybe just wait a few weeks.
in my experience on linux I just replaced the gpu from Nvidea to AMD and it worked fine, but maybe others would have different to say. you might have nvidea specific packages for obs or editing software or something that you might need to change or go without.
