Try disabling all Gnome extensions, then see if the Wayland login succeeds.
Nope that did nothing ,
Apparently someone have the same problem and the fix was to rollaback to a snapshot before the update to gnome 45 and update again , but i don’t have a snapshot before the update .
We’ll have to look for clues in the journal. Reboot, and when you get to the login screen attempt to login to Wayland. After it loops back to GDM again, switch to a TTY and log in from there. Then pipe the journal to Termbin and put the URL into the thread.
journalctl -b | tb
I found a fix . i deleted the dconf folder in /config and i logged in to the wayland session but after logging out the problem came back.
Not to complain, but this issue sounds a lot like the one I encountered last week. GDM didn’t show any users, so I entered my user name manually, and after a bunch of seconds (~10s?) the form field was cleared but nothing seemed to have happened in the meanwhile. I had to start another tty, login there and start gnomesession. Since I failed to fix this issue fast enough (work machine), I switched to LightDM for now.
i fixed it . i deleted every extension i had installed , then deleted the dconf folder in ./config , it did the trick for me.
