Global Menu - KDE

Hello. How are you all? Does anyone know how to explain why the KDE ‘global menu’ widget displays the Chromium menu correctly, but does not display the Google-Chrome, or Firefox, or Firedragon menus, etc. I noticed that with Konqueror it works fine, that is, it displays the menus correctly, but only with these two. Would anyone know if it is necessary to change any settings in Google-Chrome and/or others to make them work? Thanks in advance.

Not all apps support it. Simple as that, as far I understand it.

There used to be a patch for Firefox that enabled it, but I think it was discontinued and became incompatible at some point. Either that, or a bunch of distros just decided to stop including the patch. Arch / Garuda definitely isn’t the only one.

Those patches originally came from Ubuntu, and since the they have the snap version they seemingly no longer provide it. Sad days for sure!

because gtk apps are like that firefox will work again when the wayland protocol is approved. But its been a few years on that so its a long wait.

I always wondered why. Thanks for solving the mystery.

There is an up-to-date version of that patch available (see firedragon-globalmenu AUR package). Should I add it back?

Its kinda built in now. If I remember that patch is only for x11

but firefox built it in here:

The issue is wayland side here,

Yes, you’re right, the patch does not work under wayland.
