A post was split to a new topic: No boot | Broadwing 250308
Yup, that was it. Had to select Grub2.
All up and running now. Just have to try and merge my pacnew files. Thank you!
If you had read the forum, these problems would not have existed.
Morning) Sorry for the late answer. Just tried. Unfortunately no.
I did a couple attempts with turned on and off optimus and fast boot on 25036 and 25038.
Still the same black screen.
I see two simple options:
-
Remove the nvme on which you want to install garuda from the laptop, put it into the other laptop, install garuda and put the nvme with the installed garuda back into the other laptop.
-
Get a “Bird of Pray” iso and try to install it. Since Garuda Linux is a rolling release, you only need to update and all the “Broadwing” stuff is automatically included. You will find the iso here: garuda-dr460nized-linux-zen-240428.iso - SourceForge.net
If you want Garuda Mokka, then install a “Bird of Pray” iso and do a migration to Mokka after the installation. How to can be found here: Mokka migration - GarudWiki
I’m having the same issue (unable to boot garuda-mokka-linux-zen-250308.iso, also using grub2 option, with Ventoy, latest release).
Actually, shortly before showing the black screen, the following dracut error is displayed (it is so quick that I had to try several times before being able to take a picture ).
The iso checksum is correct, of course (that’s the first thing I checked). It must be something else. And the same iso in a VM works.
Turns out, it was a PEBCAK for me.
The checksum of the downloaded file was ok, but the one of the file on the USB was not.
So, there must have been an issue in the copy…
Grub2 mode works.
Maybe @tak0dan you could check that checksum also…
Might have unmounted too early. I’m always worried about that… Maybe watching the writeback cache will help in the future
i also had a issue if i paused a download checksum right but after copy not right and after a full download without pause it works fine btw.
Idk, man, I just can’t do anything at all. I literally have a black screen with nothing on it. It just stays before even the first boot screen.
Have you verified the checksum of the file in the USB?
The expected value is on the website. E.g. for Mokka:
SHA256 button.
To determine the one in your USB, if you’re currently on a Linux installation, open a terminal on the USB and give a:
sha256sum garuda-mokka-linux-zen-250308.iso
or whatever the file name.
If you’re on Windows, search the Internet ( ). There are many tools to do that that I don’t want to know anymore…
Sync (in terminal) or a clean unmount are your friends there (in making sure the write from buffer is complete).
