Garuda "Setup Assistant" Closes Up Prematurely!

Looks like the Setup Assistant invoked via Garuda Rani is broken pretty recently (My search in the fora for this, did not get me any hits).

Try these steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Garuda Rani.
  2. Click Setup Assistant.
    • It will spawn the terminal instance for updates and so, provide the sudo password and you’ll see that the updates go fine.
    • At this point, the terminal instance will say to hit Enter to close the spawned terminal instance.
    • At this juncture, the whole Setup Assistant dialog in the behind, also vanishes.

And this is the problem: :warning: At this point, it should not have just closed the Setup Assistant. Rather, it should have allowed me to proceed to make the changes I need in Setup Assistant for applying fresh installations. :warning:

This is relatively recent.

Works fine here, just tested.

Thanks for the bug report @kraza , as every report helps improve Rani.

Rani is being developed at a very fast pace, so you should probably temper your expectations a little. I would personally say Rani is still beta software, as it is quite new and was recently completely retooled into electron app.

I’m sure @dr460nf1r3 will investigate your bug report as soon as his schedule permits. We have no paid developers on the Garuda project and Nico has done wonders considering he works and only has limited free time like most others IRL.

Noted with thanks. Of course. So, being a new user for Garuda, I will make sure that if I have a strong reason to believe that this is a bug (after my due-diligence, of course), should I just log these in Bugzilla (?) as say in Fedora, etc? I will do that from next issue/bug onwards. Thank you. Much appreciated.

Hi

i can approve this behavior on my system too. If i use the Terminal command setup-assistant or use the Application Launcher it work. I did try a reinstall didnt work . Installed the git version same issue .

Thanks for the report! It’s true that making an issue is the absolute best way to track bugs for sure. I’m trying my best to keep track of all the things to do in the forum, but I probably missed a few things until now (if so, at everyone: feel free to remind me :see_no_evil_monkey:). Making issues ensures it’s never lost.

Shell execute error: Command execution timed out

I guess that’s it already from first sight. I’ll likely get to it at the weekend
