I don’t even know where to begin really. I’m sitting trying to type up documents, when out of nowhere, Garuda just descides to automatically forcefully log me out of my system. This has happened to me 3 times in 1 day and I have no idea what is causing it.

This just keeps happening and I don’t even know what to search for to fix this.

This isn’t even the background screen I remember selecting for my system.

It just keeps on resetting and resetting and resetting at random times. I tried clearing some of my browser windows and seeing if for some reason my HAM hardware keeps tripping it up. No luck…Has anyone else gone through this before?

Any logs you have read through?

journalctl -u sddm.service

For instance
A good way is checking the pid of the service and maybe

journaltl _PID=<sddm id>

Otherwise check for the latest logs after you re log back in.

Maybe you have a timeout setting of some sorts. Or you could reinstall sddm

 ╭─fenris@fenris in ~ as 🧙 took 0s
 ╰─λ journalctl -u sddm.service
-- No entries --

 ╭─fenris@fenris in ~ as 🧙 took 0s
 ╰─λ

I have so many PID’s on my screen, I have no idea where to even begin beyond sddm :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I think I could try that, reinstalling sddm seems like a reasonable place to start…

Which one would I select? There is no specific sddm program directly installed on my system so it would seem.

Probably this one

hich one would I select? There is no specific sddm program directly installed on my system so it would seem

–> I made the assumption dragonised would use sddm, let me check.

Probably?

If this is an important service and I just replace it with something that was never there before, don’t I risk breaking something?

Its a display manager, it is easily changable and not as complex as you make it sound. chaotic-aur is basically apps distrubeted by Garuda, thats why I picked it. However do not mess around if this are grounds you have never played with before.

The surprising thing is you saying there is no sddm application to reinstall in your system.

Are you sure, what is the output of systemctl status sddm.service

I can admit…I never “played” with it before

From my eyes…to your screen, this is what it says:

 ╭─fenris@fenris in ~ as 🧙 took 37m7s
 ╰─λ systemctl status sddm.service
Unit sddm.service could not be found.

 ╭─fenris@fenris in ~ as 🧙 took 0s
[🔴] ×

Sorry, I assumed you are using KDE - draggonized, I have confirmed with your inxi you arent’– this is what you should do

systemctl status lightdm.service

To reinstall

pacman -S lightdm

To check logs

journalctl -u lightdm.service

Ya…I knew something was wrong, no worries…no harm done

╭─fenris@fenris in ~ as 🧙 took 37m7s

So far I think, xorg is probably crashing ,

maybe update or roll back to a saved snap.

Try creating a new user and see if the problem persists.

It’s hard to say how far back I would need to go

Ya I guess I could do that. So far it hasn’t happened for awhile.

Making and then changing a user account didn’t seem to change anything. But I did notice something…

Here is a inxi of one of my Garuda VM’s
