Garuda RANI application fails to authenticate administrator/superuser password.
When attempting to use the Garuda RANI application to make changes to the system or install applications, RANI refuses to accept my administrator/superuser password. The password works in terminal and everywhere else within Garuda Linux.
I did a clean reinstall of Garuda Linux just in case something corrupted during the install. The issue was not resolved. I checked for any selinux or apparmor restrictions which might be causing issues but wasn’t able to find anything. I did several google searches looking for any known information about issues with Garuda RANI and found nothing. I was able to run Garuda RANI in terminal via the command “sudo garuda-rani” and it partially worked. My password was accepted once I ran Garuda RANI as root. I was able to install/remove programs and make some system changes, but I couldn’t run any maintenance operations as they’d immediately fail.

It’s a known bug, maybe it will be fixed ASAP.
Just do not use special chars like ; \ …
Or just reboot

Would I be assuming correctly not to use _ either?

Well considering when I try to launch any tool from Rani the password box empties and nothing happens it must be most if not all special characters.

Probably, at the moment I would not use any char other than letters and numbers.

OK for now I can just install and use Garuda Maintenance and Garuda Assistant if they’re not installed already as independent apps.

This will be solved in the pending update. We still need to finish testing this one however.
