I have Garuda OS fully installed & updated on my new Steam Deck OLED but it’s still missing the majority of the hardware drivers, including Audio & WiFi, meanwhile EndeavourOS had working Audio & WiFI in It’s live enviroment.

After rebooting, post the FULL output of garuda-inxi in the body of the post (not linked externally, or collapsed with the “hide details” feature)
Format terminal output (including your garuda-inxi) as a code block by clicking the preformatted text button (</>) , or put three tildes (~) above and below the text
Yes, you can also use garuda-assistant → System Info
Ohh okay, I think I understand what you want me to do.
This my furthest attempt at fully migrating to a Linux distro from my old current Windows 7 daily-driver and I won’t be able to do a reboot for a couple hours now because I started a large data transfer over LAN of all my media & hobby projects and I can’t stop it.
In Garuda Assistant do you mean “System Specs” → “Copy for Forum”?
I mean what was wrong with steamos? Its a locked down version of arch but it works fine. If you just wanted the full AUR you could have just added distrobox and been off to the races. If you kinda want the garuda like feel, cachyOS has a handheld edition iso. You can grab the garuda theme stuff from the gitlab.
I dislike Steam. I dislike it so much I deleted my Steam account in 2016 after I created my GOG account.
Steam Deck OLED is an open handheld PC. Linux is an open-source OS. SteamOS is a closed, proprietary OS with core integration to a game client I don’t use.
So I want to run a Linux version that’s further upstream, and FOSS.
If that’s the case, your money still went to valve? I mean, there are other handheld’s out there that you can install bazzite or hallow os or whatever it is called.
I guess, though maybe you should see if there are specific drivers for your audio problem that you might have to do a little bit more work for. But I can’t say. I personally just run steam os on it. But it’s an open device so you can do whichever.
If you still require assistance with your WiFi, please open a separate help request in the networking sub-forum.
On the Garuda forum each problem you are encountering is expected to have its own separate help thread. This helps ensure that others encountering the same type of WiFi issues can easily find the information they need in the future.
Please re-post your full garuda-inxi on your new WiFi help request. Also, please describe in full all WiFi fix’s you’ve attempted and the exact symptoms you are encountering with your WiFi.
I double checked the missing audio problem by trying EndeavourOS and contrary to my opening statement in this thread Endeavour has the exact same missing Audio Hardware Driver flaw.
So I don’t know what to do. It looks like, for the time being anyway, I will continue to be gaming on Windows 7, because Linux sucks.
Not any old Linux variant with any old kernel will work well on hardware that was built for an extremely specific thing like this. I would think SteamOS would be a better choice than Windows 7 for this hardware–especially if you want to avoid a proprietary OS like you say–but suit yourself.
I will get this topic closed down since it seems we are done here.
Sorry to hear that Linux does not meet your stringent user expectations. I will deactivate your account for you as you have let us know in no uncertain terms that Linux does not meet your needs.
Good luck with your Windows 7 re-installation. Crikey, that’s some low spec hardware you’ve got there mate. I have an old 28k modem from a few decades back you’re welcome to have if you want to upgrade your hardware.
