Just goto add remove software and reinstall optimus manager after you have updated but before you reboot 
then reboot

Yeah can confirm that was the issue, we will have to do this every time python updates?

Could the python maintainers have handled this upgrade better? I mean, I am sure it is a complicated issue, but OMG, talk about bringing down the house.
