I just redid my install and noticed the QT fix for Krunner isn’t included.
Uhm stupid question, but…
Is it possible that Mokka has better gaming performance than Dragonized?
I did today clean install Mokka, picked the proper gaming Software from Rani. And I could swear I have more FPS in Helldivers 2.
Idk if id say better but, did it meet the expectations? absolutely.
Hmm… can’t say I saw anything vastly different in the package lists of the two apart from theming.
edit: The Dragonized ISOs have more recent (test) ISO versions however and I only compared the two form the same dates that both were available (version 250308).
I can agree Mokka is working great for gaming. Been on the same install from the testing of it.
Of course now I’ve gone back to old habits of doing my own Plasma customizations now that the test phase is over.
That would be a super funny luck! Mokka was totally not designed to have gaming in mind, we have Dr460nized-Gaming for that and Dr460nized in some aspects.
I can hardly believe the Mokka UI would make a difference in gaming. The base between Mokka and Dr460nized is the same, so in that aspect Mokka should not be that bad at gaming, but that was totally not our goal. You seem to confirm in fact it is pretty good at gaming, then great.
Haha,
Welcome in the club.
I like the style Mokka is going for, but… It opens a pandora box for tinkering, I am already a bit fine tuning the theme to my style. A small change here, small change there…
You know, you indeed did by mistake create a second Gaming Distro
I like Dr460nized-Gaming, because for when I started to play as a noob on Linux. Having something pre-installed & pre-compiled and tested “it just works” is a blessing. But as the time goes one can get the hint what is needed for gaming on Linux + you guys have a superB tool to install all needed (Assistant or Rani).
So basically ;
Mokka + perf tweeks + RANI (gaming software) = minimum effort = another perfect gaming distro
Mokka is more than perfect for gaming, it matches Dr460nized-Gaming (And I have a feel for some reason in some games perf is a bit better)
Hey,
Anyone knows how one can achieve the colored window highlights that both flagship editions feature now? It didn’t add this setting automatically when updating my Dr460nized install, and I couldn’t find it anywhere in Plasma settings, or the config files.
hi hi,
did you see this post?
The thing is that … mokka doesn’t seems to use much transparency and blur things … as much as Dr40Nized … so that can make a difference … but it will be very minute IG ..
It does as much, virtually same settings are used, it’s a question of color palette, wallpaper and stuff like that that make it seems like there could be less blur and transparency. There’s less vivid colors behind the blur for the eye to see, I guess that makes a difference.
Noo, it’s unpinned. I best bookmark it.
So, I have several hours now played games in Mokka. And indeed is performing in games good AF.
Even if not intended to have Mokka for gaming, its more than a solid option. To me this is basically a proof you guys have with garuda overall a solid foundation.
Many thanks, Mokka is to me a huge surprise this year, and the fact its easily converted into awesome gaming experience is just breath taking.
Besides that seem to be missing pager which is always available no matter the distro.
Forgot to and thanks for getting AVIF files to work for wallpaper right out of the gate saving me time having to add the files, much appreciated.
In large projects like this, it’s beneficial to place strong emphasis on the project’s philosophy, build the project’s framework, and create diagrams; then refine those details and proceed to write the code. This is evident from the changes made in ‘Garuda Rani’.
As much as I like Garuda, I don’t like when distros try to separate linux from the terminal. It makes less able linux users in my opinion. While it’s sure a notable accomplishment, would you guys know so much if there were easy one-click buttons for everything when you started?
EDIT: NEVERMIND!!
That is why Garuda, as easy and fun to use as it is, should probably not be recommended to new Linux users. With that being said, the nice thing about RANI is that you can still see everything gets executed. So new users can still learn from it, and experienced ones can press a button sometimes, and still feel like they’re in control of the machine.
I agree somewhat. I do hope the team will keep the old assistant around and not deprecate it or something.
Is that right?? I recommended that years ago for Garuda Assistant and @SGS didn’t like the idea! That certainly changes my mind. That’s super useful!! Also kind of exciting!! I’m so glad you said that! Now, tell me we’ve done away with find-the-command!!
