Hi everybody, I've recently been trying to install Garuda Linux again. When I install the Dragonized Edition, i can start the boot to the USB with nvidia divers, but at the end it gets stuck on the message:

Starting Terminating Plymouth Boot Screen
However, if I boot from the GNOME version, it boots perfectly and I'm in linux with proprietary drivers, but I want to use the Dragonized edition.

Report everything you have already attempted to solve your problem.

  • Added nomodeset to the grub boot options
  • Removed quiet from the grub boot options
  • Booted with free drivers (it will boot) and then switching to proprietary drivers, but then when I reboot after starting optimus-manager, I will just get a black screen
  • Started with free drivers and then ran prime-offload and then started optimus-manager, switched to nvidia graphics, rebooted, but still a black screen.

It would be awesome if we could find a solution!

Thanks in advance,
EthtanSnowy

Maybe you could boot and install with free drivers, update the system after installation and finally switch to proprietary drivers with the Garuda assistant

I'll try that.

Just a question, I'm in the Garuda assistant and I can't find where to switch.

Nevermind, I think I found it in the Garuda Settings Manager

I auto installed the drivers and rebooted, it opens and works, but no optimus-manager or Nvidia GPU. I'm doing a system update and I'll try installing the drivers again, but I'm not sure.

Looks like another black screen

Just a suggestion
Check you have fastboot disabled

It is disabled.

Check the suggestions here, especially booting to a tty and then launching startx, to see error messages, logs, etc…

It's not exactly your model, but you may want to try the boot parameter suggested here

Where do I add these?

To test it once, when you are in the grub line for Garuda press button E, then add it at the end of the line starting with linux and press ctrl+x

I can now boot into Garuda Linux, however optimus-manager hasn't started and I'm still on my integrated graphics. If I run optimus-manager I get this error:

This is from the log file:

Do you know why?

Sorry, I don't really know...
Maybe give a look at this hint

Didn't work. Thanks for your help anyway.

My last two dumb hints and I’m crashing into bed

  1. Make sure you are with Nvidia drivers, since I see only nouveau above
  2. Maybe check if the Nvidia card is somehow disabled in the BIOS, since invisible in PCI bus…

Hi, I'm not entirely sure how to do this. Could you give me some guidance? And by the way, I really appreciate your help

Don't worry, I think the problem is elsewhere or also elsewhere, but this is too technical for me.
When it unloads nouveau, I think this is done to leave only Nvidia loaded, and this should be fixed. But also the Nvidia card not visible in PCI bus should be part of the problem.
I hope someone else who knows better will jump in...
The only suggestion in the meanwhile would be to check the continuation of the GitHub above, with some Xorg configuration hints, and the FAQ, with logs description.
Check also the output of mhwd -li, as I see it could be useful for further future troubleshooting.
Edit: I just realized that the inxi -Fza was still the one from Gnome.
You should provide the one in the Dr460nized installation.
