Garuda-health fix for outdated steam-native breaks source dedicated server

I host a few Team Fortress 2 servers on my pc, but after an update (and garuda-health —fix) the servers started crashing, before literally anything got loaded - the server logs were empty, aside from a record of the launch options I used. No mods were able to load, the server crashed very early.

I fixed it by reinstalling the steam-native-runtime (from AUR). It complained about having to replace a library at the end, which I declined - I might have a broken state because of it, but at least the servers actually run now.

I just wanted to yell this out, in case someone needs it.

- A reboot is pending (update applied since last reboot)

✅ System health check passed. No issues found.

might want to try doing that first and see if it helps

the timeline:
Reboot → Update → garuda health fix → reboot → server doesn’t work → update again (reboot request lingers from this point) → server still doesn’t work → research, debug, eventually reinstall steam native runtime → server now works → this post

I am not looking for help, I am making a noise about garuda-health breaking source DS, and posting a solution to the problem.

garuda-health removed steam native runtime as outdated, which broke the dedicated server. After reinstalling steam native runtime, the server works again.
