Garuda freezing

Hi. Just recently set up Garuda on a “republic of gamers” laptop with an intel core 17, and an idk a GeForce GTX 660m 2 gb. And I keep having problems with it freezing. It has mostly happened when running an internet browser (when using firedragon it takes awhile to freeze, tried Firefox and it freezes faster) it’s like a complete freeze, no ctl alt dlt, no f2, need to hard reset. I’m having trouble figuring out why it is freezing even after checking like htop and other console options

Hello. Could you follow the template and post the output of your garuda-inxi ?

1. The issue

I
disabled Ananicey and changed to cachys bore kernel and had previously tried xanmod, put a cpu core monitor in the task bar, which showed core 6 (of 8) max out and spiked when it froze usually the mouse and keyboard both stop completely the last time the mouse moved some for awhile before freezing completely again

we also switched from wayland to xorg

Hi there, welcome to the forum.
The first thing I’d try here is to switch to the proprietary drivers (you see the nouveau drivers are loaded, but the 470.xx nvidia drivers should work).
Try with Garuda settings manager → HW configuration → autoinstall proprietary drivers.
Apart from that, what looks strange to me is that the iGPU is missing in the specs. Did you disable it in the BIOS?
In my opinion you should enable and use it for the normal work, then use the dGPU when needed with prime-run. See the wiki.

So when I went to the HW configuration page, it had a button for autoinstalling opensource drivers, but not a button for autoinstalling proprietary drivers? is there some other way I can get the nvidia drivers actually installed and running?

Hey, thanks for the help everybody. It turned out our ram chip was not installed properly so this problem is now fixed
