Garuda and Hyprland

Hi, I’m new to Linux and Garuda itself. I’ve already seen a post talking about using Hyprland on Garuda Dragonized Gaming version, and I’ve got that it is not reccomended to install it alongside the Dragonized Gaming DE. But I was curious if is it possible at all to overwrite Dragonized’s DE and keep just Hyprland. Or, if it isn’t really considerable, if I can find somewhere documented what the Gaming version has compared to Garuda’s Hyprland version so I can install it manually I guess

Hi there, welcome to the forum.
In terms of packages, you could compare:
https://gitlab.com/garuda-linux/tools/iso-profiles/-/blob/master/garuda/dr460nized-gaming/Packages-Desktop?ref_type=heads
with:
https://gitlab.com/garuda-linux/tools/iso-profiles/-/blob/master/garuda/hyprland/Packages-Desktop?ref_type=heads
In terms of settings, check Dr460nized (applicable also to the Gaming one):

v/s

If you really want to try this “monster” , make sure to do it with a new user, and please don’t open topics for this, and mention this change in non-DE related future topics.

Garuda dragonized gaming version basically has some extra tools for games , which can be installed by garuda’s rani ( or gaming assistant formerly ) .

Basically if you install Garuda Hyprland , then you just have to install those packages through garuda’s rani gaming section , and other than DE everything will be same AFAIK … :upside_down_face:
