I saw that there was one post about this before the Steam deck was released but now that its out has anyone tried to run garuda on a steam deck or rog ally? I want to try it on my own but after having it for two years there would be alot of set up to do all over again if it didnt work out. From my understanding should be able to run gamescope since its an amd apu with little to no problems and since most of the controller handling for desktop comes from steam and garuda has controller packages built in i dont see why it wouldnt work. Just looking for someone that has maybe given it a try.
I have not. But you could just use an independent SD-card for the experiment. You know, remove the SSD (if you have one inside) and then install Garuda on a completely independent SD-card? That way, if it doesn’t work out, you still have your SteamOS-installation at hand and don’t have to reinstall it all over again.
So i installed garuda, dual booted with steam os. It was a pleasant experience. I was in the process of adding all the holo and jupiter packages needed for “game mode” and about half way through the process jupiter went missing and my steamos install got borked. At that point i was over it and decided to just a recovery on steam os. Im sure it can be done just need to sort out the conflicting packages. Might work on it more later.
