Full system pause

hi!

i find my system often completely pauses -- cant switch in i3 to different windows, virtual desktops, and even the status bar's clock seconds stop incrementing. the mouse cursor still moves but the active windows doesnt track.

  1. anyone else?
  2. thoughts?

i have journaled today the 3 times. i only noted 2 of the start/end times, but i have been reviewing the journal for the last month or whatever and this seems to be the same content when the system pauses.

This is fairly warm. If this is a reading after a sustained load, fine, but if this is just an idle temp then it may be time to grab a can of compressed air and clean some dust out of your machine.

awesome! ill begin to track this. i recently had it opened to switch from the 2600 to the 3600 so presumably its "clean".

maybe i set the sink/fan wrong? heck, maybe its not even spinning!! i should probably look .. hahaha!

thx for the feedback!

Your GPU supports latest official drivers, you can try installing them. Nouveau sometimes can be a bit buggy.

sudo pacman -S nvidia-dkms nvidia-utils lib32-nvidia-utils nvidia-settings

hi! thx!!

yeah .. ive tried and basically i get a big nothing! its pretty bad because my memory of the times ive tried it i have NOTHING on the screen! i then freak out because im like: how do i get back!!?

so, im extremely hesitant to try, but ill give it anther go over the weekend .. when i can "afford" to have my system potentially down.

just happened again, like a 3min pause! glad its not controlling my pace maker! hahaha!

pretty sure is the xconf stuff ...
