I don't use FireDragon myself, but noticed that someone called it out as a possible problematic extensions privacy issue on Lemmy's privacyguides community. I don't know if this is valid, but in the event it is a possible issue, I thought I would mention it.
Yeah, those are the search extensions. LibreWolf (and thus FireDragon) are more transparent about plugins like this - Firefox doesn't show them to you. Also, search extensions get nothing from the browser until used, so they aren't a privacy issue - if you're going to use Google they get all the info they want from the search itself anyway.
So, this is a good thing turned bad because of a little ignorance mixed with paranoia and a touch of social media engagement. Or megalomania. Whatever.
Sadly this kind of stuff comes up a lot from privacy activists.
Sadly they mostly do it for self promotion and ignore the damage they do to the whole privacy topic. One could think they are on the payroll of Google or something.
Apart from the fact that he doesn't make much effort as far as error correction is concerned, we can't have users here who believe him anyway.
I'm sure the guy also believes in chem trails and that the earth is flat, but he sure looks good in his aluminum hat.
This guy is going to stop using an entire distribution because of the default settings of one app?
A privacy/security enthusiast who can't be bothered to change the settings on their own computer is like a gardening enthusiast who refuses to touch dirt.
Not for nothing, but if he's trying to come across as a knowledgeable person it has backfired a bit.
