First I want to show a sign of life - yes I’m still here but super rare for over a year now, second I’m still using my FIRST installation of Garuda Dr460nized (installed on March 2022) successfully without issues and I do not “baby” it.
I’m doing some AI stuff with it, doing Video Editing (DaVinci Resolve + BlackMagic Hardware!), blender stuff and gaming (incl. early access titles!).
So, I’m not that guy who is happy just to have Firefox (Firedragon!) running, nobody can tell me anymore Linux isn’t capable of doing stuff most ppl want to do, like Sillysoft Windows, but BETTER. I never looked back (Linux is awesome!), I never thought about DistroHopping (which is a Garuda specific fault ).
Were there some hickups after all those years? Sure, but mostly they were an uplink issue which could be resolved quickly and as last resort there is the BTRFS Snapper tool. Which save my a$$ twice.
And yes, I also run Garuda with the latest HW since the install, (back then it was AMD 5800X + 6800XT GPU), no issues et all.
Printer, no issues,
scanner, no issues,
networking, no issues,
Windows Software besides games - no issues,
games - no issues (except AntiCheat but I won’t have any software sniffing my Kernel anyways..),
production - no issues (incl. using propiertary HW, like the BlackMagic SpeedEditor panel!),
AI/GPGPU/HW-encoding&decoding - no issues (especially thanks to ArchLinux packages about ROCm and HIP, even CUDA runs fine!).
Gee, it even detected my cheap chinese lithium ion USB 3.0 charger without issues, same as my super cheap chinese drawing tablet (I don’t even know the brand’s name ).
And runs fine means:
No tinkering needed, max one additional script or something which can be done within *5mins. and you don’t need to be a Linux crack. I had an issue with DaVinci Resolve and got help pretty fast HERE, thanks for that. Same as the mentioned uplink issue I’ve got. That’s way less issues/year than I ever had on Windows, on Windows (starting with Win98 back in the days) until Win10 I had on average one issue a months, sometimes even weekly issues with Win10… Since I’ve got GarudaLinux as main and daily driver, I never looked back!
Cheers, I wish you all the best and special thanks to the Devs and all the Helpers here on the Forum!
