Did you search our forum for the error messageerror: Partition /var/cache too full:

With over 50 hits on our forum, that search term would seem to provide no shortage of posts relating to that subject.

Hi ,

i dont know if you try Rani to clear cache ? Just a idea.

and orphans too …

Yes, it is.

Root is full…once again.

That’s not enough, you need more free space. Obviously you don’t understand how BTRFS works and that automatic snapshots are created before and after a system update. And if you run out of space during or after a successful update, you will no longer be able to boot.
In addition to @Duke187’s suggestion, you should also delete old snaphots.

BTRFS does not automatically recover deleted space, because it stores snapshots until they are deleted by the user. You need to familiarize yourself with how BTRFS works:

or copy bigger files somewhere else to external drive.

70GB is less for a system if you have a 2TB drive  may do more free space from your win or other os and add it to fstab and so on check the forum here too about  or ask

FYI @shelled: since this is all related, please reread your parallel thread (I edited my last post in the linked topic again):

Edit: The most reasonable would be to reinstall Garuda (according to your other topics you are used to this and it shouldn’t bother you) and give the partition much more space during the installation. Since you obviously do audio and content creation as well as gaming, distrobox experiments and I don’t know what else, I recommend at least 500GB for the Linux partition (or preferably take the whole NVMe).

I hope that after that you stop creating topics about non working updates, snapshots or this or that not working anymore because you ran out of free space through your own fault.

I’m with you cause I’m running out of popcorn  and soda :cup_with_straw: watching this and other threads.
