just makes my brain hurt. My brain is not wired to do advanced mathematics / programming.
I did everything else, except the .tar installation and switching to nvidia open dkms.
Ghost of Tsushima still does not run with wine. Is the switch to open drivers necessary? Because:
sudo pacman -S nvidia-open-dkms wine-mono
[sudo] password for shambhu:

Oh man. I have been away for the last couple of weeks and am now as tired as a dead guy.
I also don’t remember where I have left off, so please gimme some time before I get back into this.
i had problem with one game not running bcz i had not visuall C++ not installed or something like that. Found out u can install those libraries with winetricks - in default wineprefix - just select in windows dll or component vcrun version, i picked 2022. i see there is option to install vkd3d aswell, could fix your problem aswell.
worked for me and its all in gui so win win for noob like me XD
Its okay, take your time .
Idk, just a shot in the dark. Apparently your gpu architecture has better support and compatibility with the nvidia open-dkms drivers. It won’t hurt to try , will it ?
That was the mystery - some launchers said I don’t have dx12 capabilities and those that did not, or those I was able to get past that, said I don’t have VC installed (both untrue). I have VC in the wine and in all the launchers installed, you see. did not try to install vkd3d through the winetricks tbh. But since Pacific Drive still works, but other titles are a hit and miss, something is still missing.
So, I did it through the garuda thingy that allows to “easily switch HW configuration”, but I don’t think it worked. It says linux-video was installed, but inxi still says the proprietary is installed.
Tried to install open source via console, but there is a conflict with some garuda util.
sudo pacman -S nvidia-open-dkms

garuda-nvidia-config is probably something that isn’t criticial . Seems like a driver manager app kinda thing . You won’t need it unless you are super duper noob.
I might be! xD
I will try to put the open source drivers in tomorrow. Just in case it bricks my shit, I wanna put a little bit of the Elden Ring DLC under the belt today.
EDIT: All seems to be working after a restart…
I will compile an easy to follow summary of the solutions given by people here, leading to a comfortable result of being able to play any game. PortProton is a great solution for everybody. Wine being able to play any game you double click is just super cool in my newb eyes.
Weird thing.
I installed the dxvk and vkd3d into the wineprefix and everything worked. The Thaumaturge worked, so did other games that are DX12 only.
Now, after an update, it does not. It again tells me I don’t have DX12 and reinstalling dxvk and vkd3d did nothing. Like, wtf?! I was once again so happy it works, only to find out IT STOPPED without any reason for it.
What the hell, Garuda?!
Nothing with Garuda this is . Try using the nvidia-open-dkms drivers in combination with the linux vanilla kernel . Seems to be an issue either with the driver or vk3d.
