Dragonized desktop not in HDR anymore

After todays update of garuda-dr460nized 4.2.7-4 and a restart the desktop environment is not in hdr anymore. Grub and the login screen are fine, as are games but the desktop is all faded:

Turning my other display on or off does not make a difference.

Couldn’t find anything on google and I’m kinda new to this. It worked fine before the update and my monitor settings haven’t changed (I checked).

You screenshot looks fine, what do you mean by “faded”?

Version 4.2.7 did not change anything related to resolution or refresh rate and stuff like that, in fact there is nothing inside garuda-dr460nized that can change this.

What other packages where on the list when you updated?

Just reboot, it’s KDE
Most of the time this help.

Check if N/A is fixed.

However, I have no idea whether the AMD GPU (always) outputs these values.

Btw. from the template

After rebooting, post the FULL output of garuda-inxi

If the reboot dos not help, post garuda-inxi again and also the log from

cat /var/log/pacman.log | grep '2024-04-08' | grep -E 'installed|upgraded|removed'

Thanks for providing a quick way to grab it

I was too tired from work to notice or realize that of course the colours don’t properly show on a screenshot. When there is a mismatch between HDR setting in your desktop / app vs monitor config there is this white wash, fading effect where everything is displayed as if contrast or brightness was way too high up. This is what I am getting with HDR enabled on both since the update.
Another hint is that adjusting the SDR brightness slider has a visible impact on my desktop view.

Again, login screen, grub and games with HDR enabled are fine. Only the desktop is affected since the update.
Issue remains after booting it all up fresh this morning.

Just a shot in the dark…
Maybe you could try downgrading this?

But I dubt it will help.
Reading back the description I expected something in KDE, which is providing HDR in Wayland if I understand correctly, but I don’t see anything about it in the update list.
If you want to give a look at the KDE bugs tracker and recognize something…:

Actually yeah, the first one on top right away 482780 – Incorrect color gamut with HDR enabled. Especially comment 16 about how colorblind mode is impossible to use with HDR. “HDR off” looks more HDR on than “HDR on”

Took some pictures to showcase the issue:

login with HDR

vs desktop with HDR

Colorblind off

vs Colorblind on

HDR on

HDR off

I had a suspect about that very thing (that’s why I linked the list sorted by descending date ) however, it seemed strange to me that it would only come up now for you.
