Distorted images

Hi there

This is a strange one. I get my images distorted, every time I upload OR download them over ANY browser.

So both Firedragon and Chrome happen to do that. Both in the same manner, the distortion seems to happen in a specific way.

Mind, that this happens both when I upload a correct image to some platform via my browser, and also when I download a correct image on the same way.

I cannot image, what part of the OS might do that, so maybe you can help me.
All is updated, this happens since around two days worth of upgrades.

Edit: It happens on the Macbook of my girlfriend too. I have no idea how this could be connected to something shared between both devices.

Then I can download pictures from my Android and her iPhone completely fine from apps like WhatsApp and Telegram, and get the same issue with browsers.

Cross-platform cross-browser, but browser-only related bug.

This seems extra weird.

See the original photo here on the right side and how it lands on my computer, shown by Gwenview.

Same here with Facebook in reverse, so by uploading:

FB IDK, ask FB.
getstencil, ask them.

What is getstencil.com?

How you upload to the browser?

???

Check uBlock too.

My uploads to twitter work fine, so it is not a Garuda Problem.

FB work fine too.

I can't see clearly your URL bar in Firedragon but it could be related to a small icon on the left of that bar. You have to allow displaying something, I can't recall... :frowning:

Or it's ResistFingerprint related. Maybe you have to disable that in Firedragon.

It may be a result of an app such as dark reader affecting the display, or your browsers display configuration. I saw something very similar when viewing images in PDF files through the browser with dark reader enabled. Try disabling all browser extensions to see if this is still happening.

True.
I got that sort of behavior with ResistFingerprint enabled, hence my suggestion above.
It’s certainly something related to one of those types of configuration (Dark Reader, Extension, uBlock, ResistFinger, not allowing something, privacy configurations…)

Thanks you all for your feedback.

uBlock, ResistFingerprint and all the other suggested aspects are set this way since years or months, the issue occurred just yesterday.

I am sure it is not Garuda related, just by the fact that it happens on a Macbook, an Android and an iPhone as well.

I just dont know where else asking.

I disabled ResistFingerprint and the issue still persists. It also happens on a fresh profile on Google Chrome.

So no Firefox/Firedragon, Chrome, ResistFingerprint, uBlock or any other extension/setting relation.

Firewall, Pi-hole ...?

Could you try using another network or do Android/iOS tethering?

Ok, can you tell us what changed in your system/network/infrastructure yesterday?

I do not use a Firewall or Pi-Hole.
I tried with tethering and the image is still distorted.
I can post my pacman change around that time.

Maybe the website is compressing it to save size while uploading

A friendly warning: Sending screenshots is not considered welcome unless you have no other option.

What way? Color change, resolution change, dimensions change, other… Explain.

You forget to describe the difference with different websites. Does this happen with every website on the WWW? Even with this forum?

This suggests it is related to the websites you upload/download images, even if it isn’t true. So give more info on this.

I couldn't help but notice you are able to upload images to the Garuda Linux forum just fine.
