Agree but for the fact that I for one would rather have a good old fashion forum. I do not and never have liked toying to find things in Discord. Great for those times when one is doing something and brain farts on a step and can just drop into Discord to get a quick reminder, but other than that a forum is always better.
In my opinion, support on a discord channel is counterproductive.
Things are stored in the forum and can be found by anyone looking for them. Things that are discussed in a discord channel are not, and are lost when the dialog ends.
I was banned from telegram support channel because I misclicked on forward instead of translate on a message in support channel and that message turned out to be a spam, please unban me. @dr460nf1r3
Same here. I like to see people post their issues here on the forum instead of some Discord server. Not everyone or everything is on or needs a Discord group. If people do start such servers they must clearly mark it as unofficial. On the other side it’s becoming dangerous to even have a Discord account, not only is personal data being openly scraped by bots, groups are constantly being targeted by RAT malware.
The only thing the discord page really needs is a announcement section and a links section.
Other then that discord should never be used for troubleshooting cause it always leads to repeat questions without being able to point to the solution in a clean way.
For me at least discord is no better then malware. Since they force webRTC and the TOS is pretty out there.
The same goes for Telegram, it’s a social chat room by Garuda Linux, but users always want to be fed personally. Nobody learns how to search properly anymore, AI will make it even worse.
AI has already made it worse. How many help request on forums could of been solved sooner if the OP hadn’t tried using ChatGPT which if it doesn’t know something makes something up. I know from experience peeps tend not to go to the source for help first and end up making the problem harder to fix. My roommate is a prime example. By the time he actually ask for help from me he’s messed up his system so bad it takes hours to fix it instead of minutes if he had gotten me right away.
That’s its own rabbit hole. To the point now days if asked something that can be solved in 1 or 2 steps I say make a forum post. So much more often now days, people post full code blocks with no formatting or the garuda-inxi and I’m like put it on the forum. I’m not reading that on my phone on telegram, i can’t handle it haha. Or they say ai said x. an they wont move from that line of thought. I wont even try to help then.
