Dawn of war 2 and 3 and silent hunter 5

Hi i am looking for someone that can help me get Dawn of war 2 and 3 running and maybe silent hunter 5.
The dawn of war games intalls fine but when i try to load them the vulcan shaders loads and then the game just shuts down.
Silent hunter 5 has no support anywere, not in proton and not on lutris. and that is as far as my skill with gaming on linux goes as of yet.

First, you forgot the paste your garuda-inxi.
Second, I do not think you would get support for playing specific games here, maybe if it was a problem with Garuda and worked fine on other distros.

For game related info, please check out ProtonDB.
The Dawn of War games have a gold rating, so they should work fine, Silent Hunter is silver, that is a bit worse.

As the good Samaritan I am, I have tried Dawn of War 2. With standard settings, it would try to start, but fail. What I did was: Right-click the game → Properties → Compatibility → confirm the option → select Proton Experimental (let it download stuff).

With Proton Experimental (as mentioned in the ProtonDB page), the game works - I watched the cinematics, selected difficulty, was able to move through the map. Cloud sync is not working, it shows an error, that is also mentioned in the ProtonDB link.

Though, as you are missing the garuda-inxi output, I do not know your config. I am on full AMD build, you might have further issues with Nvidia. Also, I do not have the other two games. And I did not and will not try multiplayer.

Hi mad. I have to so i like that you have The nameless one as profile pick, not many remember planescape torment anymore. Thanks for testing that for me, i was a bit stuck since i am not far from a newbie on most linux distros and speaking i being a newbie, here is my garuda-inxi :

Thanks a million again Mad. Dow 2 is up and running, i did not know that i could force a game to run in specific proton versions. I will continue testing the other games.
THX a bunch Mad!!!
btw: no need to test multiplayer, all my gamer friends has been lost to palworld anyway.
If anyone wonders about how it went with any of the other games just ask in this post.

You should mark his answer as the solution.
P.S. In future if you have any issue with Steam games, as Mad suggested, you should try to search the game on protonDB first.

The proton experimental suggestion has been there for a long time.

Please

  • Format terminal output (including your garuda-inxi) as a code block by clicking the preformatted text button (</>) , or put three tildes (~) above and below the text

Will do and done. thanks :+1:

I started out on ProtonDB but i found no answer. I found the site kinda hard to navigate, guess that is also something that get’s beter with time.

Enjoy DoW2, it is a great game. Now that you have gained some knowledge, I hope you can now enjoy even more games.

I knew someone would at some point recognize the Nameless One
