Davinci Resolve doesn't load?

Hello Garuda users.

So I downloaded and installed Resolve from the main website. It installed just fine but when I open it never actually starts.

Using ‘sudo pacman -S davinci-resolve’ (as suggested in How to install davinci resolve in garuda and run without error - #3) ends up showing: “error: target not found: davinci-resolve”.

Any ideas?

It works here… Are you sure you didn’t just mistype the package name while installing?

I see it’s been removed from chaotic. I hadn’t updated my system in the last 10 days so the sync with remote repo was running a little behind.

That’s outrageous !!!
As a bleeding edge distro user, how can you have so patience?
I use to update at least once a day, if not twice

@VonKreskin the issue is although on website davinci resolve says it supports all major distros it works the best on redhat. Here I have attached a video where the YT’er is showing how to use distrobox and also showcases how to install davinci resolve as an example. Please refer and see if you find it useful.

I had interviews planned with a few companies and I didn’t want any unexpected issues to crop up at the time. Plus I just forgot since I had been so busy. I am free at the moment and well rested so I decided let’s update and resolve any issues that might crop up.

Garuda Linux use Snapshots  for that, remember
And off course, backup, backup, backup !!!

Even though I am that much expert that I have broke deb based distros with just update commands but I can say that garuda is now hard to break(that’s different fact that I broke garuda four to five times during my first month with garuda in the past :face_with_hand_over_mouth:)

Thanks for all of the help. I’m working on getting it running using Distrobox and Podman and am running into all kinds of issues just getting all of that to work so I have some troubleshooting to do.

If anyone is interested this is what I get when entering the container:

distrobox enter Resolve-Fedora-37
fish: Unknown command: /usr/bin/starship
~/.config/fish/config.fish (line 1):
/usr/bin/starship init fish --print-full-init | psub
^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^
in command substitution
called on line 40 of file ~/.config/fish/config.fish
from sourcing file ~/.config/fish/config.fish
called during startup
~/.config/fish/config.fish (line 40): Unknown command
source (/usr/bin/starship init fish --print-full-init | psub)
^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^
from sourcing file ~/.config/fish/config.fish
called during startup
source: Error encountered while sourcing file '/usr/share/doc/find-the-command/ftc.fish':
source: No such file or directory

And this is what I get when trying to install Resolve in the container:

kreskin@Resolve-Fedora-37 ~/Downloads> ./DaVinci_Resolve_18.6.2_Linux.run -i
fish: Job 1, './DaVinci_Resolve_18.6.2_Linux.…' terminated by signal SIGSEGV (Address boundary error)

Try running the container from bash.
Type

bash

in your terminal hit Enter and then enter your distrobox container. See if this makes any difference.
