Constant mouse input loss after update

During Gaming, Wine or Native and not during desktop work, some times moving the mouse doesn’t turn the game camera. It’s a stuttery input problem that doesn’t effect the graphics or fps. I don’t remember the exact update the caused this. Downgrading the kernel or changing usb slots didn’t help.

Bios update is a option

Think on the right settings, after. (s-boot,f-boot,resize-bar)

Downgrade the kernel is not the option. (my mind) If install another kernel + headers (znver3 or lts)

Tested with other kernels ?
As info:

  • we had 2 updates since last week (proton db)
  • the info from Arch linux news over proton from Mon, 16 Jun 2025 * Transition to the new WoW64 wine and wine-staging
(to read over example octopi if you click on Tab file “news from your distrubition”
  • mesa update, perhaps that`s the reason, why.

Any way to debug the problem without downgrade packages?

You should read the log from journal and special for the games.
You didn’t explicitly say which games it’s happening with. So start the affected game and look at the game’s Steam log, e.g.

No, no downgrade → you don’t know exactly why. (my mind)

Mouses loses motion for a second, happens every few seconds to the entire OS now. Tried Bios update and Cachy Kernel, removing any other device from the PC. Again nothing.

Do you have enough snapper image retention to roll your system back to just before these problems began?

Another thing you might want to test is creating a new user account to find out if this issue is present on a new account.

Are you using USB phone tethering as a full time internet connection?

You did not state the make or type of mouse in use. Is this a wired or wireless mouse? Your inxi output would seem to indicate you are using a wired USB mouse, is this correct?

Have you tested this mouse on other computers (Linux, not Windows) or in a live environment to find out if the mouse itself is problematic?

Have you tested other mice on this computer to see if the same problem exists using a replacement mouse?

Please answer all questions in full.

Not enough packages to go back. My system does professional stuff, not allowed to go back. Not remembering when started.

User account won’t help, didn’t change any setting at all.

USB phone tethering is my full time internet connection in this place. But i did try without it to.

Cooler Master MM720 usb. I’m a technician myself, this is not an electrical level damage, tested with polymeter. Are you ok driver wise?

It happens on every usb, once a minute on desktop, 2x on video, 4x on gaming. SVP4 does weird stuff with freesync to, till it hangs. During the mouse event i get DEVICE_REMOVED followed by instant DEVICE_ADDED. There is no power loss on any of the usbs on any of their pins. No power loss moving the mouse cable. No power loss during the event on mouse’s leds.

Take a look in your bios, is there a option for the usb ports ?
Test it with the kernels lts, znver3
sudo pacman -S linux-lts linux-lts-headers
sudo pacman -S linux-znver3 linux-znver3-headers

What kind of usb options should i look in my bios? The above kernels are not compatible with my needs.

I have no asrock board, it`s “only” a info that you perhaps find in the bios relevant usb settings.
example: options for legacy usb / xhci hand off support (if, both enabled)

Znver3 is optimized special and “only” for this cpu, with all the settings equal then linux-zen kernel (my knowledge)
First the issue “only” during game but now you have the issue always.

Do you have tested ?
