Conky Autostart

Hi All,

I am running Garuda, and have put a custom conky.conf in my home folder.
I have added conky -c /path/to/conky.conf to Autostart and it starts no problems. However the original conky and conf is also loading.

What i can’t figure out is where in Garuda would have the original conky autostart as only the instance i added to autostart shows.

Afaik, only i3 edition used to come with a conky and custom config for it; the current screenshot on the homepage doesn’t show it, so maybe it was dropped altogether. In any case, could one of these be the culprit?

The configuration file can be located in one of the following paths (the first one found will be used):
~/.config/conky/conky.conf
~/.conkyrc
/etc/conky/conky.conf

I know where the config files are, but i can’t figure out why there is 2 instances of Conky starting, not sure where the default autostart file is

Hi there, welcome to the forum!
Check if you have the autostart in both of these two directories.
/etc/xdg/autostart/conky.desktop (automatically created by “Garuda Common Settings” package)
~/.config/autostart/ (often created by Conky users)
If so, (backup and) delete one of them.

Thankyou it was /etc/xdg

I did manage to write a quick bash script that killed conky and then restarted conky with my config, but all Sorted now.
Thanks

Pay attention if you deleted /etc/xdg/autostart/conky.desktop: it will come back at the next update of the Garuda Common Settings package; so you should possibly use that one to autostart instead of the other (but there are endless possibilities, as you already saw ).
