Computer won't turn on since I updated it yersterday

Hello there,

I did a garu-update yersterday, and since, when I turn my PC off, I get the GRUB, but the PC can’t charge Garuda.

Failsafe mode get me the same, in recovery I get this (sorry for the picture, no other way to copy).

I don’t have another OS on my PC to troubleshoot, but I could launch a live-USB I suppose.

Than you in advance for your help.

First off, you should try restoring the latest working snapshot.
Then you could try again (you never can say), if necessary restore again and e.g. try a different kernel (LTS) and update again.
Additionally, after restoring you’ll have a chance to provide your garuda-inxi.

Ha, that seems to work at least to provide more information!

I’m not an Nvidia user, so cannot help much.
Did you take the chance to try a new garuda-update?
Make sure you restore the snapshot you booted and reboot before trying again.
This should be the reason for:

Your Nvidia driver v: 550.40.67 seems old, isn’t it?

If I do a garuda-update again, I get the same result, black screen, fan going full speed continuously.
The reason for the boot_image was that I took the inix with the working snapshot.

Here is the Garuda_inxi after restoring a working snapshot ans updating my Nvidia driver:

How do you update your drivers?
This still looks strange to me:

I see from the Nvidia website they suggest 550 for your model, but directly installing from there is discouraged.
I think you should use nivida-dkms , currently v: 565.57.01-2.
But, as said, I’m no Nvidia user, so probably some will know better.

I tried to update via there website, but it doesn’t seems to be tacken into account…
If I try to install nvidia-dkms, it tells me that there are dependencies broken:

deleting nvidia-dev-utils-tkg break the dependency "nvidia-utils-tkg" required by lib32-nvidia-dev-utils-tkg
deleting nvidia-dev-utils-tkg break the dependency "nvidia-utils-tkg" required by nvidia-dev-egl-wayland-tkg
deleting nvidia-dev-utils-tkg break the dependency "nvidia-utils-tkg" 550.40.67 required by nvidia-dev-settings-tkg

Sorry, I’m running short of time now.
In a few words, you have to manage to remove, forcibly if necessary, all that tkg stuff: nvidia-dev-utils-tkg, nvidia-utils-tkg, nvidia-dev-settings-tkg, etc.

Try this code;

(A lot of Nvidia cards are running into troubles lately. There are different solutions. Try this one first. It installs open source dkms modules, which seems to be the trouble of many. There are other solutions, if this one does not work.))

sudo pacman -R garuda-nvidia-config garuda-nvidia-prime-config && sudo pacman -S nvidia-open-dkms

Hmm, when I try your line, I get the following

Okay that doesn’t seem to work at all then.

The following code is what has rescued me many times, though i have been told not to use it.

It is downloading the Nvidia-all drivers and trying out different versions of the Nvidia drivers to see which one would fix your issue, if any.

You might want to try, line by line, and see if this will fix it for you. (i watch the compiling of the dkms modules, on my terminal, to determine if a version works. If there are no errors things ought to work after that.

git clone https://github.com/Frogging-Family/nvidia-all.git
cd nvidia-all
makepkg -si
sudo dracut-rebuild
sudo update-grub

So I tried with the vulkan-dev (550.40.67), because it’s the one I had before, and even it block and tell me to force (-f), if I do, I get the error:

An error occured in build()
Abord

Same result with the other 550.110 sadly

Okay, that is a real bummer

another thing you might not have tried is to let remote update fix it

garuda-update remote fix

Okay, I went back to an old snapshot, updated manually the nvidia driver, then garuda-update remote fix and it works!

Latest garuda-inxi of victory:
