Computer freezes even when I play Euro Truck Simulator 2

My computer freezes even when I play ets 2. How can I solve this problem? I use garuda kde gaming distribution and this is my second day using linux. By the way, I don’t have a bad computer. I have 16gb ram and 8gb graphics card.

I am a 21 year old Turk. I have a HP Victus 16 model laptop. I have an AMD Ryzen 7000 series processor, 16 GB RAM and an 8 GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card. In addition to these, I installed the Garuda KDE Gaming distribution on my computer so that I can play games.
The problem I am experiencing is that I installed the ets 2 application from steam and wanted to open and play it, but even on the lowest graphics, my screen freezes and I can never get a smooth experience. If I am somewhere in the city, the game freezes completely.

Thank you both so much for writing to help me.

Have you tried x11 instead of wayland to see if that helps.

Is this the native Linux version or with Proton? Try with Proton if you haven’t yet as the native (OpenGL) version has some odd bugs reported on it. (Not sure if if it would cause freezes, but you can never say with a buggy version)

hello,

maybe you trying to verify your game data. it helped me for some games because downloaded files curupted.

Try to verify game’s files directly from Steam Library (right click on ETS2, select Properties, select Local Files, click on the verify button then wait until it finishes).

you also can try with a other kernel and recommend to use X11 and not Wayland like #TilliDie sayed.

otherwise confilct with steam and loaded gpu driver can cause issues too because you have a IGPU from Amds Cpu and your Nvidia . You also can try to disable the igpu in the bios of your laptop for trying.

ETS 2 its a windows 7 Game i remember it. When you have a activation key you can download their game and install it with PlayonLinux ,Lutris,Bottles or Proton.
