It seems that in some cases the clipboard gets overwritten when you switch the virtual desktop.
I use CTRL+ALT+LEFT/RIGHT for switching left and right on virtual desktops.
Copying text and switching right works, copying text and switching left fills the active entry in the clipboard with '-'.
