Is there a way to uninstall software from the live environment?
I’ve deleted a lot of files so far.
Or is there maybe a command to delete stuff that isn’t necessary, to make space where it specifically needs it?
Or is there a directory I should be looking in?
If you installed an application with Pacman you should be able to remove it normally from the chroot.
To list installed programs you have explicitly installed:
pacman -Qqe
If you see any you can do without, remove them with -R
:
pacman -R [package name]
To remove a package and all packages which depend on it, use -Rc
instead.

Removed a lot, but the system bit doesnt change seemingly no matter what in btrfs. Is there something else I can do?
It looks like there is some difference. Are you able to run a balance now?

Wow, it’s working, it’s still fairly quick but no where like before.
Let’s try the more aggressive full balance.
btrfs balance start --full-balance /
After it finishes, let’s take a look again at this output:
btrfs filesystem usage /

Want me to stop this current one or let it continue first?
No no, if it is still going that’s good–maybe it will free up plenty of space and there won’t be a need to run it again.
I’m praying mate, this has been a headache and a half. When I originally started looking at the F.A.Q before coming here, my brain melted. I still don’t even understand what the issue is, all I get is that the update cooked it.

I apologize for the pain you’re about to witness, but I haven’t gone through with the update in case something will break, I’d rather your approval first.

Yes, let’s give it a shot.
All that anguish to bring in a whopping 324 MiB.

Haha indeed ! But will this allow me to actually boot in to the system now? Before it was giving me the kernel issue the other chap had and I had to snapshot to access my files.
This is going to reinstall the kernel as part of the upgrade.
We should check the output of the update to confirm it succeeds, then after that reboot and test if you can boot to the installation normally.
Quite a few errors in there, I have no idea what some of them mean. Like Ruby? No idea. Apologies for the pain you are about to endure. Unfortunately I can’t paste it all but I’ll try pin point the errors.

That looks good actually. I’m pretty sure the errors you have are normal when running in a chroot.
Next, exit
out of the chroot, reboot, and see if you can get to your normal system now.

Bro, I could kiss you right now. It worked. I’m on it, but I have this in the top right. Is there anything I should do now that I’m back on it?
I will donate to the forum or whatever for the help you guys have given, top tier

I’m not sure what that is actually. Try running garuda-update
again now that you are in the normal system and see if it has any additional actions to complete.
Just as you typed this, I have an issue. Terminal will not open no matter what, how would I resolve this?
I checked this and this is also stuck
Try switching to a TTY by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F3 (or try the other F keys). Log in to the TTY and try running garuda-update
from there instead to see what it says.
